Senior Copywriter

POSITION DETAILS

We’re looking for a high-calibre Senior Copywriter who can craft engaging copy that nails the brief every time.

In this role, you’ll write content for a range of formats and channels across different industries – from education, engineering and financial services to retail, hospitality and more. You’ll know how to get under the skin of a client’s brand and understand what kind of content will resonate with its audiences. Thought leadership, website copy, eDMs – you’ll do it all. So, if variety is your thing, you’re going to love it here.

As part of the Wonderthink team, you’ll collaborate with clients, our Copy Director, and other team members to deliver work that’s always on-brand and on-point.

You’ll be working remotely, permanent part-time. The number of days and hours you’ll work are flexible for the right candidate. Ideally, 3-4 days per week.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Copywriting skills

  • SEO copywriting – crafting compelling content that connects with audiences, while pleasing the Google Gods
  • Demonstrated experience writing for different formats, including websites, thought leadership articles, eDMs, print collateral, social media and more
  • Brand voice – confidently flex between different brand voices
  • Strategic thinking – write copy that complements broader business objectives and marketing strategies

People skills

  • Open-minded and collaborative – eager to ask for, receive and implement feedback
  • Affable and always professional – we set the premium standard in client servicing
  • Stakeholder management – managing expectations and timelines comes naturally to you
  • Proactive communicator – ​​you flag potential roadblocks or deadline issues early

  • We’re obsessed with good process. You’ll be highly process-driven with excellent organisational skills
  • Multi-tasker – you’ll need to efficiently manage your schedule, juggling multiple projects and deadlines without compromising quality
  • Detail-oriented – it goes without saying, but you can spot a grammatical error from a mile off and your copy decks are always polished and consistent

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

  • 6 years+ minimum copywriting experience
  • Must have demonstrated experience writing in different brand voices across different industries
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple pieces of content at once
  • Solid experience in SEO copywriting; ideally, you’re familiar with tools like SEMrush

WHO YOU’LL BE WORKING WITH

  • Reporting to Copy Director Bethany Plint
  • For most projects – our account manager will brief you and manage delivery and deadlines
  • You’ll also work directly with clients – crafting reverse briefs, conducting interviews, attending kick-off meetings and WIPs
  • Working collaboratively with other Wonderthink team, including copywriters, strategists, designers, and SEO specialists

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 70% – Copywriting
  • Delivering drafts, revisions and final approved content (always on time, and managing expectations well in advance in the rare case that deadlines need to be shifted) for a range of Wonderthink’s clients across all industries and formats
  • Interpreting client briefs and identifying any gaps or opportunities early on
  • Ensuring all SEO content is optimised, and achieves the right balance of brand voice + SEO
  • Reviewing and incorporating feedback (internal and external)
  • Crafting content to promote the services of Wonderthink to drive our growth
  • Proactively contributing content ideas and identifying content gaps/opportunities
  • Systems and processes

20% – Collaboration

  • Responding to new briefs, feedback and other comms quickly and efficiently
  • Working directly with clients, attending WIPs and managing projects where required
  • Asking questions on client briefs (demonstrating initiative to find the answers)
  • Working closely with the Copy Director and other team members to align work with client expectations and project goals
  • Communicating effectively with all stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery

10% – Admin

  • Attending team meetings
  • Tracking hours in Toggl
  • Upskilling as required

REMOTE WORKING
This is a remote position, however you will be required to meet with the team and clients in real life from time-to-time. Because of that, our preference is that you are based in Sydney, Australia or within 1-2 hours drive of the area. We’ll also accept applications from outside of the area.

PACKAGE
$112,500 per annum + super, PRO RATA
Work from home, some IRL meetings required
Permanent part-time – 3-4 days per week (flexible based on the right candidate)
